The mission of KIPP Memphis Collegiate Middle School is to empower each student with the knowledge, habits, academic abilities, and character strengths that will lead to the fulfillment of the promise of college attainment and a choice-filled life.  Students are academically prepared for the rigors of high school and college, without sacrificing the middle school experience so connected to the Memphis community.  At KMCM, kids want to run to school!

About Our Principal

Dr. Veda Turner

My name is Veda Turner, and I am honored to be selected as the new principal of KIPP Memphis Collegiate Middle! I am excited to lead this school that will represent joyful, academically excellent learning environments for our students. Thank you for welcoming me into the Collegiate Middle family, and for allowing me to serve a school community with great scholars, parents, and educators.

I am a native of Jackson, Mississippi, but I have been a part of the Memphis community for 25 years. I know firsthand the experiences of many of our students. I am a proud Alcorn State University graduate and continued my studies at Christian Brothers University and Freed-Hardeman University. I began my teaching career with Memphis City Schools as a Science teacher at Booker T. Washington High. I have over 15 years of leadership experience in middle and high schools, serving as Principal of Chickasaw Middle School and Craigmont Middle School.

My commitment to you is I will empower and inspire all stakeholders to strive for excellence. I am willing to serve in any capacity to get the job done. As principal, it is important that parents know that you are needed and valued. You have a role in the overall success of our KIPPsters. We cannot do this work without you!
