THE KIPP APPROACH

KIPP Memphis Public Schools is an open-enrollment, public, tuition-free charter school network of three schools in the North Memphis Area. Together with our families and communities, we create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare our students to pursue any path they choose — college, career, and beyond — so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world.

OUR MISSION

Together with families and communities, we create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students with the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose—college, career, and beyond—so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world.

OUR VISION

Every child grows up free to create the future they want for themselves and their communities.

OUR FOCUS

At KIPP Memphis Public Schools, we focus on the whole child by offering options for athletics and extracurriculars.

We exist so our KIPPsters reach their potential and choose their own futures. Our students gain the knowledge AND character strengths necessary for success so they will become lifelong learners and productive citizens.

WHAT WE DO

Our schools are preparing kids for success in college and life, and we are committed to building a better world for and with our KIPPsters.

Our strength and resolve, our health as a team and family, our productivity and effectiveness, and the quality of the decisions we make — are all rooted in our diversity. We strive to create an environment in which every member of our team can bring their full identity and experience to the work.

We embrace, honor and celebrate our differences across race, gender, age, ethnicity, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, gender orientation, physical abilities, socio-economic class, and other characteristics that construct our unique identities.

We are especially committed to attracting and developing individuals who share the life experiences of our students because we believe the best work we do is grounded in the realities and experiences of our families and KIPPsters.

FREE AND OPEN TO ALL

My KIPP education followed me from my non-KIPP high school all the way through my KIPP Partner degree at Penn. I’ve had the opportunity to participate in KIPP specific pre-collegiate programming at Georgetown University, and I was fortunate to intern on Capitol Hill as a rising senior in college because of KIPP. Without the guidance of KIPP, I would not have built the confidence to apply for and ultimately obtain an Ivy League degree.
